Yummiest Cannabis Baking Recipes

Delicious homemade pot brownies with marijuana leaf garnish.

Though many people focus on smoking cannabis, there is so much more that you can do with this natural herb that will provide the same healthful effects, even more effects than by simply smoking. Certain medical cannabis users may also be more comfortable with eating marijuana edibles rather than smoking. When you eat cannabis edibles, the cannabinoids enter your bloodstream differently than smoking, so users should be careful.

When you think about cannabis edibles, pot brownies immediately come to mind, but there are so many more baked recipes you can make with cannabis! We’ve collected some of the tastiest cannabis infused baked goods recipes so you can explore.

Cannabis Infusions

The first two recipes on our list are going to be the base for any cannabis infused goodies you choose to make: cannabutter and cannaoil. The active ingredients in marijuana -called cannabinoids-only dissolve in fats, not water-based substances, so you have to infuse oil or butter to get the effects of cannabis in edible form. We’ve collected two super easy recipes.

Cannabutter

For this recipe, you’ll need a saucepan, one pound of unsalted butter, several cups of water, and one ounce of finely ground cannabis buds. The best ratio is one ounce per one pound of butter, adjusting accordingly for different size batches. Put your butter and one cup of water on the stove in the saucepan, and melt butter over low-medium heat. Add your ground cannabis and stir to incorporate. The key is to melt the butter but never let it boil, as that causes the milk fat to separate. Add water as needed. Simmer your butter and cannabis for over two hours but not more than four. Strain the melted cannabutter through a fine mesh strainer with cheesecloth into a container, then cool. When the cannabutter has hardened, you can separate it from the water easily. Store in a cool, dry package away from light.

Cannabis Coconut Oil

This is another easy cannabis infusion that you can even cook while you do other things. All you need is coconut oil, water, cannabis, and a slow cooker. Coconut oil has a very low melt temperature, so you just need to turn your slow cooker on medium to see it go from opaque white to clear. Add your ground cannabis and allow the mixture to steep and simmer for around 4 hours, turning it to low after a while. Add water as needed, then strain and chill just like the cannabutter. You can skim the cannabis coconut oil off the surface of the water once cool.

Yummy Cannabis Baked Goods

Now that we’ve figured out how to make potent cannabis butter and oil, we can make some tasty desserts that have wonderful effects.

The Easiest Pot Brownies Ever

“Pot brownies” are probably the most recognizable cannabis edible out there, and recipes vary widely. You can spend hours scouring the internet for a good brownie recipe or doing the math to figure out how much cannabutter to use. Or you can just use a boxed brownie mix. Yes! A box mix is formulated to come out perfect every time, so you won’t be wasting your precious cannabutter.

To make easy pot brownies, simply replace the oil required by the box recipe with melted cannabutter. To dress them up and add more chocolate flavor, add a ½ cup dark chocolate chips and ¼ cup pecan pieces. Sprinkle more on the top for added flavor. Bake according to directions, and you’re done!

Peanut Butter Cannabis Cookies

Peanut butter cookies are a childhood favorite for most of us, and now we can enjoy them in an adult way with cannabis-infused butter.

Ingredients:

  •    ½ cup cannabutter
  •    ½ cup peanut butter
  •    ½ cup each white & brown sugar
  •    1 and 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  •    ½ teaspoon each of baking powder & baking soda
  •    1 egg
  •    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Melt your cannabutter and mix with the peanut butter until smooth. Add in one-half cup of your flour. Mix egg and vanilla, then add that. Slowly add the rest of the dry ingredients, adding the rest of the flour last. Roll the cookies into balls, about golf ball size, and place on a cookie sheet with 2 inches between so they have room to spread. Bake for seven to ten minutes, or until they start to crack on top.

Cannabis Pecan Pie

What could be better than a warm pecan pie on a cold holiday evening? Now you can enjoy your Thanksgiving or any gathering more with marijuana-infused pecan pie. Since the sugar and flavor are very strong, you won’t even taste the marijuana.

Ingredients:

  •    One prepackaged pie crust (for a single crust pie)
  •    2 oz melted cannabutter
  •    3 oz melted unsalted butter
  •    1 cup brown sugar, packed
  •    3/4 cup corn syrup, light
  •    3 eggs
  •    2 cups pecan halves
  •    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  •    A pinch of salt

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 340 degrees. Prepare pie crust by laying it into a 9 inch round baking pan, crimping the edges, and poking holes in the bottom. Chill pie crust while you make the filling or for half an hour. In a large bowl, combine the butter, the corn syrup, the brown sugar, the vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Make sure the melted butter isn’t too hot because next you’re adding the eggs and you don’t want them to scramble. Beat the mixture until smooth and creamy, then add your pecan halves and stir to coat evenly. Pour the mixture into the crust and bake for 50 minutes to an hour, or until the pecan filling is solid. Chill and serve.

Dosage with Cannabis Baked Goods

One of the hardest things to remember when enjoying pot brownies or other baked goods infused with cannabis is that the effects are amplified and also delayed at the same time. This means that users think they aren’t feeling anything, and then eat more than they should. Remember to always start with a small amount of the cannabis baked good and wait at least an hour before trying more.
